October 2025 Newsletter
October is the month to set an intentional Q4 to finish strong and start next year strong.
You might have noticed that this month's newsletter has come out later than usual. It’s been a full month of coaching, event preparation, speaking, attend conferences, events... If that’s you too, consider this your October reset. We have approximately10 weeks left in 2025. Let’s set an intentional cadence to finish strong and step into 2026 already in motion.
Here is my Finish Strong Framework (FSF)
A simple rhythm you can run between now and December 31:
One Bold Outcome (OBO): Choose one outcome that would make you proud on New Year’s Eve
(e.g., “Secure VP-level sponsor for my 2026 promotion case,” “Ship the pilot for a Gen AI use-case,”
“Stand up a women-in-tech mentoring circle with 10 members”).
3 Levers, Not 30: Identify the three highest-leverage moves that advance the OBO (stakeholder, resource, and proof-points).
Weekly Power Block: Protect one 90-minute Do-Not-Move block each week to move a single lever from 0 to 1. Treat it like a board meeting with yourself.
Finish Line Friday: 15 minutes to log evidence of progress, decisions made, and one micro-win. Confidence compounds when progress is visible.
Bridge to 2026: Every second Friday, capture one insight you’ll operationalize next year (process you’ll keep, risk you’ll retire, capability you’ll scale).
What to do this week (quick start)
Name your OBO in one sentence.
List 3 levers.
Put your weekly 90-minute Power Block on the calendar (recurring).
Draft a one-slide narrative: problem → bold outcome → levers → Q4 milestones. Share it with one sponsor for feedback.
Boundaries that buy back time (so you can execute)
Decline or delegate anything that doesn’t move the OBO.
Convert status meetings into asynchronous updates unless a decision is required.
Set communication windows (e.g., email 2×/day) and guard your deep-work block.
Confidence accelerators for STEM leaders
Speak in decisions, not details: “Based on A/B/C, I recommend X. Trade-off is Y; mitigation is Z.”
Evidence bank: Track weekly micro-wins; use them in year-end reviews and sponsor updates.
Sponsor loop: Every 3 weeks, send a 5-bullet progress note: Outcome, Progress, Risk, Help needed, Next decision.
